Harienju opened on December 8, 2005. It was the reincarnation of my previous design site, once known as Hikari Yume. Harienju mostly offers designs influenced by Japanese music, whereas Hikari Yume offered designs influenced by anime/manga. Those years when I ran the poorly designed HY, I hadn't discovered the wonders of the Japanese rock scene, and when my obsession with anime/manga slowly disappeared into the new obsession for jrock, I closed down HY and began working on a new project that would involve the Japanese rock music that I loved. There are plenty of wonderful design sites on the internet that may once in a while provide the visitors with a Jrocker on a layout or two, but at the time of Harienju's formation, there were few quality design sites that were almost entirely based on offering Asian music-influenced designs. Hence, the birth of Harienju.

Harienju does not, however, only provide Asian music designs. I have not given up my love for anime/manga entirely, and Harienju does have a small amount of designs centered around that genre. As my designing skills and HTML knowledge have grown, Harienju has evolved with me, into a personal, slightly respectable design site.
